Mountain Province Diamonds continues to make good progress with the development of the Gahcho Kué diamond mine, with the current focus being the shipment of equipment and supplies on the ice road between Yellowknife and Gahcho Kué.
By mid-March, approximately 78 percent of the planned deliveries have been completed, representing 1,669 out of 2,143 planned truckloads. Based on progress to date, all planned deliveries should be completed before the ice road is closed.
The 2015 ice road shipments include the mining fleet, drills, high-pressure grinding rolls, structural steel, cement and fuel. When these deliveries have been made all the key equipment required for the completion of construction will be on site at Gahcho Kué.
Mountain Province has also said that the overall mine development continues on schedule and within budget, with first production expected during the second half of 2016.
Located in Canada's Northwest Territories, Gahcho Kué is the world's largest and richest new diamond development project. Mountain Province Diamonds is a 49 per cent participant with De Beers Canada in the Gahcho Kué diamond mine.
